The Emmy Strong initiative was inspired by and created in memory of Emmy Valentina Carter who lived her life to the fullest everyday. She overcame 4 major heart surgeries and many other medical challenges during her 8.5 months of life before passing away suddenly. Half of her life was spent at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and the other half was at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Emmy was and always will be a heart warrior full of strength, courage, bravery and resiliency. The purpose of the Emmy Strong initiative is to keep Emmy’s legacy alive and eventually form a foundation to help these hospitals and charities, continue to provide the specialty care that they do and the continued resources for children and families, through various programs and initiatives.
